Parisian Apple Crisp
  • 2 lbs (about 4 large) tart cooking apples, peeled, cored and cut into 1/2-inch slices
  • 1 x 1/3 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsps cinnamon
  • 2 /3 cups chopped almonds
  • 1/2 cups melted butter
  • 3/4 tsps vanilla
  • 1 cup heavy cream, soft whipped

1. Spread apples in buttered shallow 9-inch round baking dish (about 2-quart capacity).

2. Combine sugar, flour and cinnamon; stir in almonds. Mix butter and vanilla and add to almond mixture, tossing with fork to make crumbly mixture; sprinkle evenly over apples.

3. Bake in preheated 400 degree oven for 30 to 40 minutes, or until topping is richly browned and apples are tender. Partially cook on rack.

4. Spoon out to serve. Top serving with whipped cream.

Makes about 6 servings.
